Kaito Takahashi x Manabu Mizuno 2021 24HTV Charity Tee Story
The Story Behind the Kaito Takahashi & Manabu Mizuno 2021 24-Hour Television Charity Tee
Every summer, Nippon TV’s flagship charity broadcast 24-Hour Television: "Love Saves the Earth" releases an official commemorative charity t-shirt (affectionately known as the "Char-T"). The 2021 edition represents a unique creative meeting of minds, bringing together J-pop idol talent and world-class graphic design.

The History of "24 Hour Television: Love Saves The Earth"
To understand why these charity shirts carry such immense value among vintage tee enthusiasts, you have to look at the legendary program behind them. Debuting in 1978 on Nippon Television (NTV), "24 Hour Television: Love Saves The Earth" (24時間テレビ 「愛は地球を救う」) is Japan's most famous annual live telethon.
Broadcast live every summer over a continuous 24-hour weekend, the event mobilizes millions of viewers across Japan to raise critical funds for welfare, international aid, disaster relief, and environmental conservation. Over its multi-decade history, the iconic 24HTV Charity T-shirt (Charity T-shirt / チャリTシャツ) evolved into the visual symbol of the entire event—worn live on air by celebrity hosts, musical guests, and supporters nationwide. By inviting iconic artists and designers to create the official annual shirt graphic, NTV turned a broadcast charity item into a celebrated medium for wearable Japanese art and pop culture history.

The Creative Collaboration
For the 44th annual broadcast in 2021, the charity tee design was co-created by Kaito Takahashi, member of the top J-pop group King & Prince, and Manabu Mizuno, renowned creative director and founder of good design company (famous for creating Kumamon).

Creative Director Manabu Mizuno
Built around the 2021 program theme, "Omoi ~ Sekai wa Kitto Kawaru" ("Thoughts — The World Will Surely Change"), the duo envisioned an original character named "Omo Wolf". Designed as a gentle wolf character carrying thoughts of hope, the artwork represents how small actions and positive intentions can transform the world around us.
